Rules of Civility

The children and I are going over a book called "George Washington's Rules of Civility & Decent Behaviour in Company and Conversation".

I am posting one a day on the dry erase board for the children to read. So far, so good :o).

Rule #1 - Every action done in company ought to be with some sign of respect to those that are present.

Rule #29 - When you meet with one of greater quality than youself, stop, and retire, especially if it be a door or any straight place to give way for him to pass.

Rule #81 - Be not curious to know the affairs of others; neither approach those that speak in private.
